My favourite way to display flowers is as single stems in vintage glass bottles. I have built up a little collection over the years but they are getting more and more difficult to find.
So when I saw these simple little vases - with a sturdy concrete base (because the one issue with bottles on a table is people knocking them over) and three test tube vases - I was really taken with them.
They are ideal for single stems - foraged wild flowers like buttercups, cow parsley, forget me nots are ideal. Sear the ends of budding poppies in boiling water for a few seconds and put them into the test tubes to watch the flowers gradually unfurl.
I like to put these little arrangements on windowsills, mantelpieces or down the centre of a table for a special meal.
The one problem with the vase as it arrived was that the curved base of the test tubes made them a bit wobbly and that bothered me as it spoiled the simple lines. We include a small strip of waterproof blu-tac (Oasis fix) which you can put in the holes to keep the tubes steady and straight.
3 removable glass tubes on a simple concrete base.
